CAli*MA Art Gallery • Ahmed Fawzy Emara (Egypt)
Ahmed Fawzy Emara is an Egyptian artist, born in Tanta in 1999. He already started painting in his childhood. His work is a reflection of his deep connection to the rural Egyptian countryside, where he grew up. The vibrant life of animals, birds, and natural surroundings plays a central role in his art, serving as a powerful metaphor for human emotions and experiences. Through these symbols, he explores themes of memory, identity, and the passage of time, often delving into the profound emotions that stem from his childhood and the traditional Egyptian lifestyle.
Ahmed Fawzy Emara's artistic journey is driven by the desire to preserve and reinterpret the beauty and simplicity of rural life, while merging it with contemporary artistic techniques and concepts that are related to Islamic culture. This balance between tradition and modernity has allowed him to create a unique visual language that makes the viewer travel into an imaginary world full of adventures.

"Inspired by Farid ud-Din Attar’s 'The Conference of the Birds', my art collection, 'The Quest for the Simurgh', explores the mystical journey of the soul in search of divine truth. Through a fusion of Islamic culture and contemporary artistic styles, the collection visually narrates the trials and revelations faced by the birds - symbolising seekers - on their path to enlightenment. Each piece reflects the spiritual landscapes of the journey, infused with Sufi symbolism, sacred geometry, and abstract forms that evoke a sense of transcendence. The Simurgh, an ancient Persian mythical bird, represents the ultimate realisation of self and the divine, mirroring the seekers’ discovery that their true essence is intertwined with the divine presence they seek." - Ahmed Fawzy Emara
